Greenery: Pantone 2017 Color of the Year!

Greenery: 15-0343

Everyone can agree that 2016 was a bit of a rollercoaster ride. Going into 2017 we needed something that reminds us of rejuvenation, cleansing, and reconnecting. Something that might remind us all of coming back together and increasing our strengths, not as two sides, but instead as a whole.

Pantone's 2017 Color of the Year "Greenery" gives us all these things and more. Greenery is such a refreshing color.

One particular gemstone that holsters the color of the year is Peridot. Peridot comes in a variety of shades from a light green, to a deep green with flashes of yellow.

About Peridot & the 2017 Color of the Year

Peridot is said to host magical powers and healing properties to protect against nightmares and to bring the wearer power, influence, and a wonderful year.  As peridot is a gemstone that forms deep inside the Earth and brought to the surface by volcanoes, in Hawaii, Peridot symbolizes the tears of Pele, the goddess of fire and volcanoes.  Today, most of the peridot supply comes from Arizona; other sources are China, Myanmar, and Pakistan.

This gemstone comes in several color variations ranging from yellowish green to brown, but most consumers are attracted to the bright lime greens and olive greens.  Peridot, in smaller sizes, often is used in beaded necklaces and bracelets. Peridot is one of the few gemstones that occur in only one color: an olive-green. The intensity and tint of the green, however, depends on the percentage of iron that is contained in the crystal structure, so the color of individual peridot gems can vary from yellow, to olive, to brownish-green.
