Pearls of Wisdom...
Those born in June have 3 amazing birthstone varieties to enjoy...
The traditional birthstone for June is Pearl. Pearl is an organic gem that is formed in the tissue of a living mollusk. A nacreous layer is formed over an irritant inside the shell and forms a pearl. When the irritant is intentionally put into the shell by pearl farmers, cultured natural pearls are the result. Pearls have been enjoyed by civilizations around the globe for many centuries.

Moonstone is a variety of orthoclase, a member of the feldspar group of minerals. It's usually colorless but comes in peachy, gray, and brown colors as well. It is known for its phenomenal characteristic called adularescence. This billowy blue sheen is the result of light scattering between thin layers of feldspar. Moonstone has experienced surges of popularity through the ages and has experienced strong demand in custom jewelry lately coinciding with today's consumer quest for something unique.
Alexandrite is the color change variety of chrysoberyl. While the color change colors vary from different origins, the most prized gems change from green or bluish-green in daylight or fluorescent light to red or purplish-red in incandescent light. Russia was the first known source of fine alexandrite and is now scarcely available in the secondary markets. Alexandrite from Brazil is also well regarded for their fine colors and are extremely rare especially in larger sizes over 3 Carats. Other sources of alexandrite include Sri Lanka, India, and Africa.
